Connected Accounts

Learn how to add, manage, and configure bank accounts and payment integrations in Digit Tally.

Accessing Connected Accounts

  1. Click Profile Menu
  2. Select Connected Accounts
  3. Bank accounts page opens

Adding Bank Account

Add New Bank Account

  1. Click + Add Bank Account
  2. Fill in bank details
  3. Verify account
  4. Save account

Account Verification

Automatic Verification:

  1. Enter account number
  2. Select bank
  3. System verifies with bank
  4. Account name auto-populates
  5. Confirm details match

Verification Status:

  • ✅ Verified - Account confirmed
  • ⏳ Pending - Verification in progress
  • ❌ Failed - Cannot verify (check details)

Managing Bank Accounts

View All Accounts

Account List Shows:

  • Bank name and logo
  • Account number (last 4 digits shown)
  • Account name
  • Currency
  • Primary account indicator
  • Status (Active, Inactive)
  • Actions (Edit, Delete, Set Primary)

Setting Primary Account

Primary Account:

  • Appears by default on invoices
  • Used for payment instructions
  • Default for recording payments

Set as Primary:

  1. Find desired account
  2. Click Set as Primary
  3. Confirmation message
  4. Star icon indicates primary account

Editing Bank Account

  1. Click Edit on account
  2. Modify editable fields:
    • Account nickname
    • Account type
    • Branch
  3. Cannot change: Bank name, account number
  4. Save changes

Deactivating Account

When to Deactivate:

  • Account closed
  • No longer using for business
  • Want to hide from selections

Deactivation Process:

  1. Click Deactivate on account
  2. Confirm deactivation
  3. Account hidden from dropdowns
  4. Historical transactions preserved
  5. Can reactivate anytime

Deleting Account

Deletion Rules:

  • Can only delete if NO transactions recorded
  • No invoices with this payment information
  • No payments received to this account

Delete Process:

  1. Click Delete on unused account
  2. Confirm deletion
  3. Account permanently removed

Account Nicknames

Custom Names for Easy Identification:

Examples:

  • "Access Bank - Operations"
  • "GTBank - Payroll"
  • "UBA - Savings"
  • "USD Account - Export"

Setting Nickname:

  1. Edit bank account
  2. Enter nickname
  3. Save
  4. Nickname shown in dropdowns

Multiple Currency Accounts

Domiciliary Accounts:

If you have USD, GBP, or EUR accounts:

  1. Add as separate bank account
  2. Select correct currency
  3. Use for foreign transactions
  4. Conversion handled automatically

Uses:

  • Receiving foreign payments
  • Paying international suppliers
  • Multi-currency invoicing

Selecting Account for Invoice:

  • Default: Primary account shows
  • Can select different account per invoice
  • Useful for multiple branches or currencies

Bank Reconciliation

Using Connected Accounts:

  • Reconcile against bank statements
  • Match recorded transactions
  • Identify discrepancies
  • Mark reconciled items

Security

Bank Account Security

Security Measures:

  • Account details encrypted
  • Access controlled by permissions
  • Audit log of all changes
  • Team member access restrictions

Best Practices:

  • Only add verified business accounts
  • Regularly review connected accounts
  • Remove old/unused accounts
  • Monitor for unauthorized changes

Troubleshooting

Issue: Account Verification Failed

  • Solution: Double-check account number. Ensure account is active. Try again later if bank service is down. Contact support if persists.

Issue: Can't Delete Account

  • Solution: Account has transaction history. Deactivate instead of deleting. This preserves historical data.

Issue: Wrong Account Showing on Invoices

  • Solution: Check which account is set as primary. Change primary account if needed. Or manually select correct account per invoice.

Issue: Multiple Accounts with Same Bank

  • Solution: This is allowed. Use nicknames to differentiate (e.g., "GTBank - Main", "GTBank - Payroll").
