Dashboard Overview

Your Digit Tally dashboard at https://app.digit-tally.io is your central hub for managing your business. This guide explains all dashboard features and how to use them effectively.

Dashboard Layout

The dashboard is divided into several key sections:

  1. Top Navigation Bar - Workspace selector, app menu, notifications, profile
  2. Workspace Cards - Quick access to each micro-frontend app
  3. Key Statistics - Business performance metrics
  4. Recent Activity - Latest transactions and actions
  5. Quick Actions - Frequently used features
  6. Financial Summary - Revenue, expenses, and profit overview

Workspace Cards

The workspace cards provide quick access to all 5 micro-frontend applications.

Sales App Card

What's Displayed:

  • Total invoices created this month
  • Outstanding invoice amount
  • Paid invoice amount
  • Number of customers

Quick Actions:

  • Create New Invoice
  • View All Invoices
  • Add Customer

Clicking the Card:

Suppliers App Card

What's Displayed:

  • Total purchase orders this month
  • Outstanding payments to suppliers
  • Total suppliers
  • Recent purchase invoices

Quick Actions:

  • Create Purchase Order
  • Add Supplier
  • Record Purchase Invoice

Accounting App Card

What's Displayed:

  • Current month revenue
  • Current month expenses
  • Net profit/loss
  • Bank account balance

Quick Actions:

  • View Reports
  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Generate Financial Statement

Payslip App Card

What's Displayed:

  • Number of employees
  • Total payroll this month
  • Pending payslips
  • PAYE tax collected

Key Statistics Section

The statistics section provides a high-level overview of your business performance.

Viewing Different Time Periods

  1. Click the date range selector above the statistics
  2. Choose from preset ranges:
    • Today
    • This Week
    • This Month (default)
    • Last Month
    • This Quarter
    • This Year
    • Year-to-Date
    • Custom Range
  3. Statistics update automatically to reflect the selected period

Real-Time Updates

Statistics update in real-time as you create invoices, record payments, or add expenses. Refresh the dashboard (F5) to see the latest data.

Recent Activity Feed

The activity feed shows the latest actions across all workspaces and apps.

Using the Activity Feed

  1. Scroll through recent activities in the feed
  2. Click any activity item to navigate to the related record
  3. Filter activities by type using the filter dropdown
  4. Search activities using the search box at the top

Filter Options:

  • All Activities (default)

  • Supplier Activities
  • Accounting Activities

Quick Actions Panel

The quick actions panel provides one-click access to frequently used features.

Customizing Quick Actions

  1. Click Customize at the top right of the quick actions panel
  2. Drag and drop actions to reorder them
  3. Toggle actions on/off based on your workflow
  4. Click Save to apply changes

Keyboard Shortcuts

Many quick actions have keyboard shortcuts. Hover over any action button to see the shortcut displayed in a tooltip.

Financial Summary Section

Get a visual overview of your financial health with charts and graphs.

Revenue vs Expenses Chart

Chart Type: Bar chart or line graph

What It Shows:

  • Monthly revenue (green bars)
  • Monthly expenses (red bars)
  • Net profit/loss (line overlay)
  • Comparison across 6 or 12 months

Chart Controls:

  • Toggle between bar chart and line graph
  • Switch between 6-month and 12-month view
  • Download chart as PNG or PDF
  • View detailed data table

Cash Flow Chart

Chart Type: Area chart

What It Shows:

  • Money coming in (customer payments)
  • Money going out (supplier payments, expenses)
  • Net cash flow trend
  • Current cash position

Invoice Status Breakdown

Chart Type: Donut chart or pie chart

What It Shows:

  • Percentage of paid invoices (green)
  • Percentage of pending invoices (yellow)
  • Percentage of overdue invoices (red)
  • Percentage of draft invoices (gray)

Interactive Features:

  • Hover over segments to see exact numbers
  • Click a segment to filter the invoice list
  • Toggle between percentage and amount view

See at-a-glance which customer invoices need attention.

Color Coding

  • Green - Due in more than 7 days
  • Yellow - Due within 7 days
  • Red - Overdue
  • Orange - Partially paid

Widget Actions

  1. Click any invoice row to view full details
  2. Click Send Reminder to email the customer
  3. Click Record Payment to mark as paid
  4. Click View All to see complete invoice list

Top Customers Widget

Track your most valuable customers based on purchase volume.

Time Period:

  • Select date range (This Month, This Quarter, This Year)
  • Rankings update based on selected period

Workspace Selector

Switch between different workspaces (businesses or branches) from the dashboard.

Using the Workspace Selector

  1. Click the Workspace Name in the top navigation bar
  2. View list of all your workspaces
  3. Click a workspace to switch to it
  4. Dashboard and all apps update to show that workspace's data

Workspace Information Displayed

  • Workspace name
  • Business type (e.g., "Retail", "Services")
  • Number of team members
  • Last accessed date
Creating New Workspaces

Click + Create New Workspace in the workspace selector dropdown to add another business or branch. Each workspace maintains separate data.

Notifications Center

Stay informed about important events and updates.

Notification Categories

Business Notifications:

  • Invoices paid or overdue
  • Low stock alerts (if inventory enabled)
  • Bank reconciliation required
  • Tax filing reminders

System Notifications:

  • New features released
  • Scheduled maintenance
  • Security updates
  • Account expiry warnings

Team Notifications:

  • Team member invited
  • Permission changes
  • Comments or mentions

Managing Notifications

  1. Click the bell icon in the top navigation
  2. Unread notifications show a red badge with count
  3. Click a notification to view details or take action
  4. Click Mark All as Read to clear notifications
  5. Access Notification Settings to customize preferences

Dashboard Customization

Personalize your dashboard to match your workflow.

Customization Options

Widget Management:

  1. Click Customize Dashboard button
  2. Toggle widgets on/off:

  3. Drag widgets to reorder them
  4. Click Save Layout to apply changes

Mobile Dashboard

The dashboard is fully optimized for mobile devices.

Mobile Quick Actions

Access quick actions from the floating action button (FAB):

  1. Tap the + button in the bottom right corner
  2. Expand the menu to see quick actions
  3. Tap any action to execute

Mobile App

While Digit Tally is mobile-responsive, native iOS and Android apps are coming soon for enhanced mobile experience.

Dashboard Performance Tips

Loading Times

  • Initial Load: 1-3 seconds on average
  • Statistics Update: Real-time
  • Chart Rendering: 0.5-1 second

Improving Performance

  1. Reduce Visible Widgets - Hide widgets you don't use
  2. Limit Chart Data - Use shorter date ranges (3 months vs 12 months)
  3. Clear Browser Cache - Periodically clear cache for optimal performance
  4. Close Unused Tabs - Too many open tabs can slow performance
  5. Update Browser - Use the latest browser version

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Issue: Statistics Not Updating

  • Solution: Refresh the page (F5). Check your internet connection. Ensure you're viewing the correct workspace.

Issue: Charts Not Displaying

  • Solution: Enable JavaScript in your browser. Try a different browser. Clear browser cache and cookies.

Issue: Workspace Cards Showing Wrong Data

  • Solution: Verify you're in the correct workspace using the workspace selector. Switch workspaces and switch back.

Issue: Slow Dashboard Loading

  • Solution: Reduce the number of visible widgets. Check your internet speed. Try accessing during non-peak hours.
